A laptop on a desk puts the screen about six inches below where your eyes want it, and the neck makes up the difference all day. This riser lifts it 5.7 inches, which is usually the whole correction — the screen comes to you instead of the other way around.
It is cut from aluminum alloy and holds up to 8.8 lb without a trace of wobble, with silicone pads on the arms and the base so nothing slides and nothing gets scratched. The open frame underneath is deliberate: air moves freely across the laptop's underside, which is where most of the heat sits, and the gap swallows a keyboard when you are not using it.
Three parts, assembled by hand in under a minute. It comes apart just as fast and lies flat in a bag, so the setup travels to a hotel desk or a second office without any tools.
WHY THIS ONE
Brings a 10-15.6 inch screen to eye level and takes the strain off the neck.
Aluminum alloy with silicone pads on every contact point.
Air moves across the laptop's base, where most of the heat collects.
Three detachable pieces that lie flat in a bag.
THE DESK UNDERNEATH
Raising a laptop frees the rectangle beneath it. An external keyboard slides under when you stop typing, and so do a notebook, a tablet or the cables that were loose on the desk. The stand occupies the air rather than the surface, which is the opposite of what most desk accessories do.
Six inches of posture, a minute to assemble.
